One of the major benefits of using a WordPress platform is It’s flexible and infinitely scalable. if you have a little bit of technical knowledge you can scale WordPress performance. on WordPress, if a website requires more memory what exactly allotted may result in memory error limit.

The default memory limit for WordPress is 32 MB. WordPress automatically increase memory limit from 32M to 64M in case of the requirement but if it requires more than 64M you will get an error. In This post, I will explain how you can increase the memory limit of a WordPress website.

Your memory limits a lot more dependent upon your hosting plan. When you purchase hosting a hosting plan, your site is allocated a specific amount of resources, including the memory used to store your site and enable it to function smoothly for visitors. If you are frequently getting WordPress Memory limit error, now it is time to upgrade your hosting.

How to Fix WordPress Memory Limit Error-:

Log in yo your Hosting cPanel. You can use FileZilla FTP client to access you hosting cPanel For more info read my complete guide How to Use FileZilla FTP Client with your WordPress Hosting Download the wp-config.php file as a backup, In the case if anything wrong happens you may be able to restore the previous version. Add following line of code to your wp-config.php file

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

after adding the above code load your website, if above code does not work then add the following line of code to your .htaccess file

php_value memory_limit 256M

if your hosting provider use NGINX server instead of Apache Server then you will not have .htaccess file. You can use your php.ini file to increase the memory limit. Anywhere inside the file add the following line:

memory_limit = 64M
